LEARNING OUTCOMES

🔵 🔴 🟡 Course description

The course examines the role and possibilities of the performing arts (such as theater, dance, performance) as pedagogical tools in the modern educational reality, focusing on the stages of compulsory education up to high school. Through a theoretical approach and experiential learning, students explore the basic educational theories, the shifts from modernity to postmodernity, the importance of curricula, as well as methods that utilize creativity, collaboration and the meaning of culture in school practice. The course includes lectures, workshops, analysis of texts and examples, with the aim of understanding and applying the performing arts in interdisciplinary and experiential teaching.

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Understand basic theoretical principles of pedagogy and educational research in relation to the performing arts.

  2. Recognize the relationships between art, culture, and the learning process in the modern and postmodern school.

  3. Analyze pedagogical methods that utilize the performing arts to develop critical thinking and creativity.

  4. Apply teaching techniques using theater, dramatization and other performance practices in the classroom.

  5. Interdisciplinarily connect performing arts with curricula, seeking to integrate art as a learning tool.

  6. Organize and design educational programs aimed at aesthetic education and experiential learning.

  7. Evaluate examples and practical applications from contemporary school and the performing arts.

COURSE CONTENT

  2. Conceptual approach to teaching
  3. The modern identity of education
  4. Learning and teaching in modernity
  5. Learning and teaching in postmodernity
  6. Educational Purposes and Learning Objectives

  8. Learning Styles, Multiple Types of Intelligence & Culture
  9. Educational theory and importance of curricula
  10. Learning communities and teaching of the performing arts
  11. Art teaches and is taught: Organization of an educational program
  12. Performing Arts in Interdisciplinary Approaches
  13. Fields of educational applications for the Performing Arts

  1. Discussion – Analysis of key concepts
  2. Short Teaching Videos – Search for Elements/Discussion
  3. Presentation of texts and practices on modernity
  4. Presentation of texts and practices on postmodernity
  5. Comparative presentation of teaching techniques
  6. Lesson Goal Setting Exercises
  7. Practical examples of teaching methods
  8. Presentation/Discussion of examples (style, intelligence, culture)
  9. Reading – understanding curricula. Examples
  10. Practical applications of teaching performing arts
  11. Performing arts program organization exercises

EVALUATION

Review language: Greek

  • By written exam – grade percentage (20%)
  • By submitting a job – grade percentage (20%)
  • With attendances (10 presences proportionally) (30%)
  • With a classroom presentation (30%)
TEACHING - LEARNING METHODS
  • Use of digital presentations and computer during lecture.

  • Support of the learning process and distribution of material through the electronic platform e-class.

  • Communication with students via e-mai and through an electronic chat room in the e-class.
